Virtual Machine console latency causes auto-repeat characters

In an envrionment where latency to the virtual machine is high, in particular in a Wide Area Network (WAN) you may experience issues with auto-repeat characters as you type in the console. In order to resolve this issue a configuration parameter exists for the virtual machine named ‘keyboard.typematicMinDelay’ which configures the virtual machine console to wait for a number of microseconds for a key to be held before triggering an auto-repeat.

In the example we required to configure the delay to be three seconds we would configure the value to be ‘3000000’ from the vSphere Web Client by selecting the virtual machine and browsing to Manage > VM Options> Advanced > Edit Configuration  and adding the parameter ‘keybooard.typematicMinDelay’ with the value ‘3000000’,
